Stop by Teich Toys & Books on Sunday, September 27th at 11:00 AM for our weekly Sunday-Funday event! This week we will be hanging out with two long time West Villagers, picture book writer George Held and balloon creationist Joel Klein.
At 11:00 AM, George will be joining us to read selections from his three book series, Neighbors, which uses gorgeous collage illustrations to depict the wild critters we often find in our yards, streets and countryside. His no-holds-barred approach to writing for kids offers opportunities to learn vocabulary they might not read in other picture books.
And then from 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Joel Klein of Big Head Balloons will be showing off (and giving away to customers) his own amazingly beautiful and intricately detailed balloon critters.
Both artists are fellow West Village neighbors. George has taught at the primary, secondary and college levels. A Fulbright lecturer, he has also published 20 collections of poetry. Joel has been entertaining children and adults alike with his zany balloon shows for nearly 30 years. He has performed in numerous hospitals, schools, the United Nations and on the Martha Stewart Show.
